A very big Thank You to the course, officials and Nathan Corden for granting a official press pass and access to all course areas.
A few tiny problems during this meeting and before but all sorted out .. well the important issues any way. Nice weather and some different images captured at this meeting thats for sure as the perfect oppertunity presented itself for me to use a 300mm f4 telephoto lens for enclosure shots, seeing that the course photographer became upset with me being in the enclosure. So not to cause a scene my enclosure shots 99% of them were captured on a new piece of glass from outside the enclosure.
Editors, publication workers, trainers, Jocks, owners and more importantly Nathan the film will be developed in the morning and image uploads will begin within the next 24 - 48 hours with all uploads hopefully complete by the 16th May. Nathan I hope you find some suitable and different images for your course promotions and such like.
Thanks to the course doctor .... interesting chat we had and good to meet you , you know were I am if in need of a qualified professional photographer.
Les ' course photographer ' got a good shot of you looking at your cam today a little puzzled mite start a new Photo Album on site called ' Simon's Funny Images ' and start it with your pic captured today. Good to meet you Les and you can be sure to see lots of Me and Perfect Images UK across uk racecourses in the future!
Lastly the site has had lots of visitors from all over the world this last few weeks and I could not believe our site stats and visitors logs when I checked them out earlier. So a big thanks to all who have visited the site and I hope you are enjoying this new professional vision on Horse Racing Photography.
Thoroughbredsonfilm, Perfect Images UK and me will be visiting many courses in the future. We will continue to bring a new vision in Horse Racing Photography while documenting artistic, creative and professional images so to produce only professional reproductions. No in-house scans or edited images here.
All the very Best Simon.

Well what can I say about this great track in beautiful East Yorkshire...
Firstly a big thank you to the race clerks who gave me a very warm welcome. I would also like to thank Keith there official photographer who seemed not to mind at all with me attending the track as a accredited freelance. I got one telling of from Keith when a syndicate group asked me for a group shot with winning thoroughbred after the last race and with out thinking I gave them a card when asked...I quickly apologised to Keith and no harm was done or intended.
This as to be the best course from a photographic point of view I have attended so far. Everything is within in easy walking distance for punters, trainers and photographers....makes it easy on the legs and back not having to yomp miles from paddock areas to the course and facilities.
Well lets talk photos... I went to this meeting with a little sadness as my beloved pro eos 1 camera that as served me well for 12 years broke at the last course I visited and is now being repaired and serviced. So out came my back up eos 1n ' hardly used it but it should perform well ' I took the oppertunity to match up my new cam with a recently purchased 400mm focal lens combined with my beloved 28-70 f2.8 Tokina. So once again my technique was adjusted to suit my new kit and to be honest from what I seen through the lens as left me with a can not wait feeling to see the actual images captured....
Images from this meeting will be developed in the morning and the first photo uploads to the site will begin in the evening or before lunch this saturday. Hopefully all images will be fully uploaded and complete by 1st May 09.
Lastly I would like to thank the Jockeys and trainers for a warm welcome and getting to know them over the last few meets certainly helps to break the ice. One of my Fav Jocks Joe Fanning perfomed well again and I did have a little flutter on Tartan Gunna who he took to victory in race 3. It was also good to chat to the vets who went out of there way to speak to me.
This meeting was a good celebration for St Georges Day. The weather was great the horses performed well and the course and facilities were spot on. ' I hope the images do the day credit '

Simon would like to thank Sally Iggulden ' Clerk of the Course ' for granting Official Course Accreditation for this meeting on the St Georges Celebration. I hope we capture some super images for all concerned...

Well guys as promised I have started to upload images from this meet. All images from this meeting should be uploaded and complete by 14th April. I have to say I am quite happy with some of the work documented ' 70% of it ' and hope that future meetings and track officials will cut some red tape so I can get some fantastic shots for all concerned in the racing community?
ps/ I hope your all enjoying the images so far , with better to come...

Well guys I would like to begin by thanking Nottinghams Racecourse Operations Manager Anne Whelbourne for her professional manner when I contacted her a few weeks ago regarding my visit to the track today. She gave me a warm welcome and my premier badge nice and early this morning. I would just like to say any amateur, professionals or press photographers planning on paying this course a visit to contact Anne before hand as the race course guide card stipulates pro's and press photographers should.
On the other note for the first time in my life I was told that I could not sell my images on a commercial basis , nor any other person or punter at the track who today captured any images could not either. This bizaAARRRR comment came from the racecourse official photographer.
Now down to the business what a beautiful day for racing sun out blue sky and a gentle breeze. Today I attacked this track in a slightly different manner regarding my photographic technique and can not wait til the morning to see what i have captured when the films are developed. Hopefully sometime on the 9th April I will begin to upload the first images from this meet ' so check back often to see the first uploads '
Lastly thanks to the trainers, jockeys and owners who today asked and posed for a few shots and I hope you will not be disappointed with the results.

Well guys this is my tip at Nottingham this wednesday SWISS ART. I captured this horse on film last time out @ Southwell when he literally walked over the line for a easy win.
This time out he steps up a class but carries a 1lb less over the same distance. I will have a few quid on him and hopefully the bigger field wont upset this thoroughbred gelding. Step up in class should be no problem here with top Jockey Joe Fanning taking the mount again.
Drawn stall 3 won out of 4 at Southwell so it looks good.....With a bit of luck I will again be getting some shots of him in the winners enclosure.....

Hi guys I fancy 2 horses to make the places in this years National. James Reveley onboard Rambling Minster is my winning tip. I captured James on WHATCANYASAY when he run a 2nd at Catterick in the back end of FEB. The stable and jockey are in good form.
My other tip which I think will place is Irish Invader.
Cheers Simon and have a good national day.

Well guys the main photographs from Southwell 26th March have now been uploaded. Over the next few days there will be some images uploaded for editors and web publishers ' these images will be perfect for page fillers and publications ' but remember MOST page fillers look great as canvases and selective cropped prints?
Finally just a reminder all images at thoroughbredsonfilm can be cropped to any specification for any type of publication. Image user licenses are readily available as are full copyrights!

Well what a day it looked like rain and it did all the way on the journey but at 2pm the sun came out and stayed out with overcast spells. The meeting sported some good flat competition and the thoroughbreds looked in fine fettle. Photos are now being uploaded to the site so checkout the PHOTO ALBUMS 2009. All images from this meet should be uploaded by 1st April 09.

I will be at Southwell for the flat races on Thursday 26th March so any visitors, trainers and owners should you want any shots taking specifically on the day please contact me in advance @ e: [email protected] or by phone.

Well guys as promised there is some images uploaded and the site is officially open. This was my first race meeting for nearly 12 years and to be honest Iam quite pleased with some of the results but not all. Shooting this track meet bought back memories on how difficult it is documenting horses on the move. ' gotta be one of the hardest subjects to record '
I only shot 2 rolls of film at Catterick and there is some decent shots uploaded with a few more to come. I know one thing the next track visit will be dedicated to shooting winning thoroughbreds and close in action shots. Actually just bought a new lens that will overcome any poor light issues with a wide f1.2 aperture ' could of done with it at Catterick lol ' as it was a little poor regarding available light and me only taking a f2.8 wide angle and a 5.6 100-300 zoom they really were not perfect for the job at hand.
So guys keep coming back and check out my next track visit and any new images. Monopod 400 tele zoom and my new f1.2 will be deffo making the trip on the next shoot.
